The cam follower rides on the camshaft's high-pressure fuel pump lobe and transfers camshaft movement to the mechanical high-pressure fuel pump. This component is critical to proper operation of the direct-injection fuel system and is recommended for inspection or replacement during camshaft swaps, high-pressure fuel pump service, or engine rebuilds.
